Mercury Launches The mTab Rio For Rs 11,999

Mercury has launched the mTab Rio 9.7-inch Android Ice Cream Sandwich tablet in India for Rs 11,999.  Notably, unlike most low cost tablets, this one features a display that uses In-Plane-Switching (IPS), a technology that is known to provide accurate colors and superlative viewing angles. Apart from this, the specs of the tablet are a standard affair.

Features Are :-

~Powered by a single 1.2 GHz processor.
~The RAM is given 1GB .
~8GB and 16GB memory options and a microSD card slot.
 ~there is also a 0.3-megapixel front facing Camera, a 2.0-megapixel rear Camera.
~The device is only offered in a Wi-Fi model and USB connectivity.
~Mercury claims the tablet will provide a battery back up in the range of 6 to 8 hours.
Mercury is not new to the low cost tablet market. Last year, it had released the lackluster mTab which had a 7-inch display and ran Android 2.3. Ever since then we have seen a plethora of tablets in the low cost space such as the Micromax FunBook and the Zync Z990, but the new mTab Rio is slightly different from these Ice Cream Sandwich tablets as it boasts of larger 9.7-inch IPS display and also costs a good Rs 4,000 more.
